RESCUE

There is nothing more important to me now than the issue of homeless pets. Looking for a new pet? Check out our AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION section and PETFINDERS.COM as well as the shelters and rescue organizations. Please spay and neuter your pets.

These are my kids that have I have RESCUED...

UCD MVK's Buddy Arnesen CGC CD

Buddy was relinquished to a shelter at 2 1/2 years old. Linda Crawford emailed me a picture of him and I could not wait to meet him in person. I picked him up from Southshore Vet Services on May 30, 1999, the day after he was neutered. His high drive and food motivation are perfect for me. We are a team that people don't forget. He has since earned his CGC award, AKC CD, AKC tracking certification and UKC CD titles. We are currently working on AGILITY, TRACKING and OPEN. Thank you Mission Valley Animal Shelter for the Budster! Sadly, Buddy has been diagnosed with at least one calcified disc. This has abruptly sent him into retirement from obedience and agility. Right now, I am just hoping to keep him pain free.

Willy was left to run the streets and fend for himself. He came to me April 6, 2001 via Vicky Thornton (thank you, Vicky!). He was neutered the following week and we guessed his birthday to be April 1st of 2000. Willy is a Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund.  In the morning, his feet hit the floor running and he doesn't stop until he goes to sleep at night. His first name is for my dear friend, Wilmer Windham. His middle name is from a woman who has a BIG heart for wirehaired dogs - Celia Caldwell. Hughes is my last name. He is very active and a perfect candidate for obedience, agility and tracking.

Lucy was given to me on March 15, 2003 because she was a nuisance (She is, after all, a Beagle!).  I had her spayed and initially intended to foster and spend however long it took to find her the "perfect home". However, she immediately stole my heart and became Willy's best friend. She is a very bright little dog and should do well in the obedience ring!

Crumpett

Crumpett was given to me in November 2003 because he was a nuisance.  I had him neutered and fulfilled a lifelong dream of having my own Pug. Pugs are different. They are in a category I would call "special needs". They were initially bred as entertainment and boy, is that the truth! He eats anything and everything on the floor and loves to chew on Lucy's ears. He makes the funniest noises I've ever heard - kind of chortles. When he's mad at one of the other dogs, he sounds like a mad chipmunk. He snores, he snorts and has truly become a member of our family. I call him "the bug", "bump" and occasionally, "Crumpett". He always comes running!
